MONROVIA – The Ministry of Education has prepared 11 Liberian scholars for advanced studies in China under the 2026/2027 Government of Liberia-China Bilateral Scholarship Program.

The scholars, comprising nine males and two females, participated in a pre-departure orientation conducted by the Ministry of Education on August 10, 2026, ahead of their academic journey.
The orientation focused on preparing the scholars for their studies and life in China, with discussions covering academic expectations, discipline, integrity, cultural adaptation, personal responsibility and their responsibilities as representatives of Liberia while abroad.
Education Minister Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah reminded the scholars that the scholarship represents more than an opportunity to obtain academic qualifications, urging them to acquire knowledge and specialized skills that can contribute to addressing Liberia’s national development challenges upon their return.
Minister Jallah also urged the recipients to maintain high standards of integrity and conduct themselves in a manner that positively represents Liberia throughout their studies in China.
The scholars will pursue advanced studies in several fields identified as important to Liberia’s development priorities. Their areas of study include Finance, Public Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Information and Communication Engineering, Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, Comparative Education, and Curriculum and Methodology.
Speaking on behalf of the scholars, Jimmy George, who will pursue a PhD in Comparative Education, expressed appreciation to the Government of Liberia for providing the opportunity.
George also pledged the scholars’ commitment to academic excellence and to using the knowledge and expertise they acquire to contribute to Liberia’s development.
The Ministry of Education said the Liberia-China Bilateral Scholarship Program forms part of the government’s broader investment in human capital development by creating opportunities for Liberians to obtain advanced expertise in fields aligned with the country’s development priorities.
The Ministry congratulated the 11 scholars and wished them success as they begin their academic programs in China.
