Zuwulor Town Flood Leaves Families Homeless, Residents Appeal for Urgent Assistance

By: Staff Writer

Zuwulor Town, Lofa County – The usually quiet community of Zuwulor Town has been thrown into distress after severe flooding destroyed at least five homes on Sunday afternoon.

The disaster, triggered by the sudden overflow of a nearby river, has left dozens of residents displaced and struggling to come to terms with the scale of the damage.

Eyewitnesses described how heavy rainfall earlier in the day caused the riverbanks to burst, sending torrents of water surging into the community.

By evening, mud, debris, and collapsed structures filled the once lively neighborhood. Residents fear the worst is yet to come, with reports that as many as ten more houses remain at risk of collapse if water levels continue to rise.

Among the victims is Flomo G. Mulbah, a government school teacher, who stood helplessly as his home crumbled under the pressure of the floodwaters. “Everything I worked for over the years is gone,” Mr. Mulbah told reporters, fighting back tears. “I don’t even know where to start.”

The tragedy has also taken a heartbreaking human toll. Madam Krubo, another resident, not only lost her house but also her daughter in the disaster.

She is now appealing for urgent humanitarian assistance. “I have nowhere to sleep and nothing to feed my family,” she said in a trembling voice. “I beg the government and all good people to come to our aid.”

Local authorities in Lofa County are yet to issue an official statement on the situation, but community leaders are already calling on the National Disaster Management Agency and humanitarian groups to intervene swiftly.

They warn that without immediate action, the crisis could deepen, displacing even more families and leaving the town vulnerable to disease outbreaks.

As night falls in Zuwulor Town, the mood is one of uncertainty and fear. Families are sheltering with relatives, neighbors, or in makeshift structures, anxiously watching the river that has already claimed so much.

For many, the hope is that relief organizations and the government will quickly respond with food, shelter, and medical supplies before the suffering worsens.
