Monrovia — President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has welcomed the decision of the United States Department of State to revise its visa reciprocity schedule for Liberia, extending the validity period for certain nonimmigrant visas from 12 months to 36 months.
In a statement issued on October 29, 2025, the U.S. Government announced the extension of the stay duration for several visa categories for Liberian travelers.
Under the new policy, which takes effect immediately, qualified Liberian applicants for B1 (Business), B2 (Tourism), and B1/B2 (Business/Tourism) visas will now receive multiple-entry visas valid for three years, with no reciprocity fee attached.
President Boakai described the U.S. Government’s decision as “a clear demonstration of the strong and enduring partnership between Liberia and the United States, grounded in mutual respect, shared democratic values, and a common vision for progress.”
He noted that the extension will ease travel, promote business and investment opportunities, and further deepen people-to-people ties between the two nations.
“This new arrangement reflects growing confidence in Liberia’s progress and global engagement,” President Boakai stated. “It opens new doors for our citizens to explore educational, cultural, and economic opportunities while strengthening our bilateral cooperation with the United States.”
The Liberian Leader reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships and ensuring that Liberians benefit from increased global access and opportunities.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti, also lauded the decision, stating that the Foreign Ministry will continue to engage the U.S. Government and other international partners to expand areas of cooperation and secure greater benefits for Liberian citizens abroad.
President Boakai expressed Liberia’s gratitude to the United States Government for the positive step, emphasizing that it will foster stronger diplomatic, business, and tourism exchanges between the two countries.
