G. BASSA COUNTY – The Liberian Agricultural Company has expanded its fleet with the acquisition of two new school buses and a TATA tipper truck, representing a combined investment of approximately US$176,110.

The latest additions are intended to improve transportation services for students while strengthening the company’s operational capacity across its plantation.
The two newly acquired TATA 1618/55 TC 66-seater buses were purchased and shipped at a cost of US$60,555 each, bringing the total expenditure on the buses to US$121,110.
The vehicles are expected to provide students enrolled in the LAC School System with safer, more dependable and more comfortable transportation, particularly benefiting families that rely on LAC’s school bus services.
LAC has also added a TATA Prima 2528 tipper truck, purchased for US$55,000. The truck will be used primarily to facilitate crop collection and the transportation of materials, equipment and other supplies throughout the plantation.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony on behalf of the Board, shareholders and management, LAC’s General Manager called on students and drivers to take good care of the newly acquired vehicles.
“The addition of new buses will adequately address the transportation needs arising from increased student enrollments in the higher secondary school,” General Manager Mr. Naveen Madan.
He stressed the need for the buses and truck to be properly maintained and used only for their designated purposes, while indicating that further improvements are expected from the company.
“This initiative will enable students to reduce their walking time and arrive home sooner, allowing for more dedicated study time. We anticipate that these measures will contribute to an improvement in academic performance,” Madan.
The latest investment forms part of LAC’s broader effort to improve support for education and enhance its daily plantation activities.
“These new buses will enhance fleet flexibility and minimize downtime, ensuring the vehicles remain operational,” He said.
Addressing employees and other stakeholders, the General Manager expressed confidence in the company’s continued operations and future development.
He assured the gathering that additional initiatives are forthcoming, declaring emphatically: “LAC is here to stay.”
The statement underscores the company’s intention to maintain its presence while continuing to support its employees, students and communities surrounding the plantation.
