The initiative was launched at SIMS Community Elementary Jr./Sr. High School in Montserrado County and is expected to enhance the monitoring of student enrollment, attendance, food distribution, and consumption trends across participating schools nationwide.
Speaking during the launch ceremony, Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah highlighted the importance of the platform beyond data collection, stressing that the true value of the system lies in how quickly information can be used to drive action, improve accountability, and support informed decision-making within the education sector.
According to officials, the School Connect Initiative was initially piloted in 75 schools and will now expand to 324 schools across Montserrado County, Margibi County, Bong County, Nimba County, and Maryland County.
The Government of Liberia also reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the national school feeding program by increasing its financial contribution from US$1 million to US$1.8 million this year.
Authorities believe the increased investment will help improve educational outcomes, boost school attendance, and support the overall wellbeing of students across the country.
Education stakeholders have described the initiative as a major step toward modernizing school feeding management and ensuring that resources reach students more effectively and efficiently.
