Gbarnga, Bong County –The National Road Fund (NRF) has donated a set of road maintenance tools to Bong County through the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to support community efforts in keeping local roads clean and passable.
The handover ceremony took place in Gbarnga, where Assistant Minister for Technical Services, Mr. Orondo F. Armah, officially presented the items to Bong County Superintendent, Madam Loleyah Hawa Norris.
The donated items included 100 cutlasses, 100 rakes, 50 wheelbarrows, 105 pairs of rain boots, 100 gloves, 105 safety vests, 10 road signs, three motorbikes, and one large signboard.

Mr. John H. Tokpah Jr., Chief Administrative Officer of the National Road Fund, said the donation supports the Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) program, which encourages residents to participate in maintaining rural roads and carrying out roadside cleaning.
He emphasized that the NRF’s goal is to empower communities to take ownership of their roads, ensuring they remain safe and accessible throughout the year—particularly in remote areas.
In response, Superintendent Norris expressed gratitude to the NRF and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their continued support to Bong County.

She assured that the materials will be used effectively to improve transportation and road safety in local communities.
The CBO program, implemented with support from local authorities, not only helps maintain road networks but also creates temporary jobs and enhances access to essential services such as schools, clinics, and markets.
