Sinoe Journalists Gain New Skills in Specialized Reporting

By: Karino Teah

Greenville, Sinoe County — Eleven journalists from across Sinoe County are enhancing their reporting skills through a five-day specialized training organized by the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) in partnership with the CERATH Development Organization (CDO).

The training, funded by the Liberia Fisheries Governance Project (LFPG) and supported by the European Union (EU), focuses on sustainable resource management and fisheries governance, equipping media practitioners to report on issues that directly impact community livelihoods.

“Journalists have a duty to inform the public beyond politics, to cover stories that impact people’s daily lives,” said PUL President Julius Kanubah during the opening ceremony.

Derek Adabie, Project Manager at CDO, emphasized that the initiative aims to promote ethical and accurate reporting while encouraging inclusive participation of women, youth, and marginalized groups in local decision-making processes.

Participants drawn from Voice of Sinoe, Liberty Broadcasting Service, and Radio Butaw are gaining practical reporting skills to improve coverage of environmental and development-related issues across the county.

The initiative forms part of the PUL’s broader effort to strengthen Liberia’s media landscape, making it more informed, accountable, and responsive to citizens’ needs.
