MONROVIA – Several public schools across Bomi County have received more than 1,000 modern armchairs under President Joseph Boakai’s “One Child, One Chair” initiative, a program aimed at improving classroom seating capacity and overall learning conditions.

Speaking during the distribution ceremony, Bomi County Education Officer Sam Harris disclosed that the exercise followed a formal request from the Ministry of Education for the county school system to compile a list of public institutions experiencing severe chair shortages.

According to Harris, the county conducted a thorough assessment and submitted the names of affected schools to the Ministry.

After reviewing the report, the Ministry approved Bomi County as a first-phase beneficiary and subsequently dispatched more than 1,000 modern armchairs to the identified institutions.

Beneficiary schools include C.H. Dewey, Bomi Junior High School, Sass Town and Jenneh #3 High Schools, Gbah Public School, and H.Q. Taylor Junior High School, along with several other public institutions across the county.

Administrators receiving the chairs expressed appreciation to the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Education, describing the support as significant relief for their institutions.

They recounted the daily challenges students previously faced due to insufficient seating and noted that the provision of modern armchairs is expected to reduce overcrowding and improve effective teaching and learning throughout Bomi County.
