Liberia – World Girls Football Club has officially presented twelve new players — six international recruits and six homegrown talents — during a colorful unveiling ceremony at the Mamba Point Hotel.

Club president Mollyn Jarbo described the signings as “a clear message of ambition” as the team gears up for the upcoming LFA Upper Women’s Division season.

The latest recruitment drive features six international players from Ghana, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, alongside six promising Liberian talents. The aim, Jarbo said, is to strike a balance between international quality and local potential while strengthening the team’s competitiveness.

Head Coach Famata Dean welcomed the arrivals with cautious optimism.
“With 12 new players coming in, it’s too early to make promises. However, what I can assure our supporters is that we are building a competitive team. We’re going to give our best and fight for every point this season,” she said.

International Signings:

  • Daniel Precious Godtime (Nigeria, 19, Attacking Midfielder): A versatile playmaker with sharp tactical awareness.
  • Ahamadu Amina (Ghana, 20, Goalkeeper): Recorded 12 clean sheets in 14 matches in the 2022/23 season; represented Ghana at the WAFU Zone B U20 Cup and FIFA U17 World Cup qualifiers.
  • Abigail Amorh (Ghana, 22, Defensive Midfielder): Three-time MVP with Jonina Ladies; recently called up to Ghana’s Black Maidens.
  • Saludeen Zainab O. (Nigeria, Central Defender): Calm, powerful, and confident in building play from the back.
  • Goodness Chinonye Nwoko (Nigeria, 21, Attacking Midfielder/Forward): Dynamic attacker with a record of driving play in youth tournaments.
  • Seh Hélène Caroline (DR Congo, 24, Striker): Prolific goalscorer, set to join the squad shortly.

Homegrown Additions:

  • Christine M. Kerkula (22, Central Defender): Composed defender from Soccer Ambassador.
  • Victoria Waltkins (17, Midfielder): Nicknamed the “midfield general” for her vision and energy.
  • Gloria P. Targbe (18, Midfielder): Versatile across multiple midfield roles.
  • Hannah Passay (21, Central Defender): Known as the “defense minister” for her consistency.
  • Courage Shine (16, Winger): Exciting young prospect with flair and pace.
  • Danieline Toomey (20, Defender): Another Soccer Ambassador graduate, bringing depth to the back line.

Reflecting on last season, Jarbo highlighted World Girls’ sixth-place league finish and their run to the Orange Cup final, which secured them a Super Cup spot on October 5 in Nimba.
“These milestones, coupled with the arrival of our twelve new signings, show that World Girls FC is ready to compete at the highest level and challenge for the league title,” she emphasized.

Jarbo added that the club’s mission extends beyond winning matches: “Today is about more than new faces — it’s about building an identity.”

Pre-season training is already underway, focusing on team chemistry, tactical awareness, and conditioning as anticipation builds among fans.

Meanwhile, in regional football, Sierra Leone’s U-17 girls extended their unbeaten run in the WAFU-A U-17 Girls Tournament after a hard-fought 1–1 draw with Senegal on Tuesday, September 23, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.

Senegal took the lead just before halftime through striker Astou Diouf, but Sierra Leone equalized late when Ruth M. Bawoh capitalized on a defensive error to score her second goal of the tournament. Midfielder Marian Sankoh has also netted twice in three games.

After three matches, Sierra Leone tops the table with seven points and six goals, followed by Senegal with four points. Liberia remains winless after two matches.
