MONROVIA – Dozens of commercial drivers who staged a go-slow action on Monday, August 18, 2025, have agreed to resume normal transportation services following a meeting with the government.

The dialogue, facilitated by the Ministry of Justice, brought together the leadership of the aggrieved drivers and government officials to address key grievances.

Speaking to the Liberia Excellent News Network, the Ministry’s Director of Communications, Jutonu Kollie, described the engagement as “successful,” noting that drivers were given the opportunity to present their concerns openly.

During the meeting, the drivers raised issues over the controversial Liberia Traffic Management Inc. (LTMI) concession agreement, alleged police harassment and intimidation, as well as what they termed as excessive traffic ticketing fees.

“The discussions were very frank. The representatives of the drivers spoke extensively about their grievances, particularly high ticketing fees and dissatisfaction with the LTMI concession,” Kollie said. “They explained the reasons behind their go-slow action, which left thousands of Liberians stranded.”

Meanwhile, the drivers’ representatives have agreed to hold further talks with the leadership of the Liberia National Police at its central headquarters.
