Grand Bassa County — The team representing Grand Bassa County in the grand finale of the ongoing National High School Intellectual Property (IP) Competition has issued a public appeal for urgent financial support.
Speaking ahead of the final showdown, set for Friday, July 11, at the YMCA Headquarters on Crown Hill, Coach Christian Duah revealed that the team is facing serious logistical and financial challenges that threaten their participation.
“We are extremely stuck,” said Coach Duah. “As we prepare for the Intellectual Property Grand Final, the Bassa IP team is appealing for financial assistance and moral guidance from our county leaders and citizens. We cannot do this alone.”
Prepared but Underfunded
According to Coach Duah, the team has invested months of effort and preparation to reach this stage and is determined not to miss the opportunity to showcase their talents in intellectual property.
“The team has worked tirelessly to get to this point,” he said. “We’re honored to represent Grand Bassa and demonstrate the knowledge, creativity, and skills we’ve built.
However, without financial backing, our journey could end before it truly begins.”
Key Needs Outlined
The coach listed transportation, meals, and accommodation as the primary hurdles. He revealed that the team needs just over US$450 to cover basic expenses for the trip and stay in Monrovia.
“We’re asking for your support to ensure that our students have the essentials they need to succeed—transport, food, and lodging.
Even small contributions can make a big difference,” he emphasized.
Coach Duah appealed directly to local authorities, community members, and well-meaning individuals to rally behind the team.
He also expressed confidence in the team’s potential to bring home the trophy.
“We are confident and focused. With your support, we will overcome these obstacles and make Grand Bassa proud. We’re coming for the giant trophy—we want to take it to Gbehzohn,” he said.
