After Seven Years of Silence, School Bell Set to Ring Again in Bong Community

NATIONAL NEWS

BONG COUNTY – More than 200 children in Baboon Worm Factory Town, Electoral District #5, Bong County, may soon return to the classroom after spending seven years without a functioning school.

By: Emmanuel Flomo Jr.

The educational crisis began when Leecy Primary School fell into disrepair and was eventually abandoned, leaving children in the community without access to a nearby learning facility.

As a result, many parents were forced to either keep their children out of school or bear the added cost of sending them to schools in neighboring communities.

The plight of the community recently gained attention during a visit by Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr., who toured the area and assessed the condition of the abandoned school building.

During the visit, residents expressed frustration over years of unsuccessful appeals for assistance, noting that the school continued to deteriorate while generations of children were deprived of educational opportunities.

The Community School Building

Following the assessment, Senator Moye pledged to fully renovate Leecy Primary School, describing the prolonged closure as a major setback for the future of hundreds of children in the area.

He also instructed Lassana Enterprise Incorporated to begin preparations for the rehabilitation project, with the aim of completing the work before the start of the next academic year.

For residents, the announcement represents more than the restoration of a school building. It offers renewed hope for children to resume their education, recover lost opportunities, and secure a brighter future.

If completed as promised, the rehabilitation of Leecy Primary School will bring an end to a seven-year interruption in education and open a new chapter for hundreds of children eager to learn.
