Major Drug Bust in Sinoe: LDEA Arrests Suspect, Confiscates High-Grade Marijuana

By: Staff Writer

Japuken Town, Sinoe County – In a decisive crackdown on illegal drug activities, officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) raided a suspected drug den in Japuken Town, Sinoe County, leading to the arrest of 45-year-old Joseph Stalwart and the confiscation of high-grade marijuana.

The early morning operation, carried out at 7:00 AM on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, was backed by a court-issued search and seizure warrant. Upon searching Stalwart’s residence, LDEA agents discovered a quarter plate of high-grade marijuana, valued at $75 USD (approximately $14,250 LRD).

Authorities say Stalwart was actively engaged in the sale and distribution of illegal substances, violating Section 14:85 of the Amended Drug Law of Liberia. Following his arrest, he was transported to Greenville for interrogation before being charged and forwarded to court for prosecution.

The LDEA, doubling down on its war against drug trafficking, has vowed to intensify operations against narcotics dealers in the county.

“This is a strong signal that the days of drug peddlers operating with impunity are over,” an LDEA spokesperson declared. “We are committed to removing these harmful substances from our communities.”

The suspect now faces trial in a case that could set a precedent for future anti-drug enforcement efforts in the region. Meanwhile, authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug-related activities to law enforcement.
